On the 12th. of June 2008, 3 members of the Deep Impact Explorers team found the wreck of a very old steamer. The wreck is sitting upright at a depth of max 88m, the deck is around 76-78m and there is a big boiler inside the engine room. We will do more exploration dives on it in the next weeks. The ship we found is the old greek steamship: SS Despina G. Michalinos

This is an english translation of the log: 14.10.17 12:40 a.m. 37d 42.5m N, 0d 33.0m W Darkened steamer on S course sighted. Manoevre for surface stern attack. At 400m fire aft torpedo A/08. Hit. Steamer launches 2 boats. It is the armed Greek steamer "Despina G. Michalinos" - Piraeus (2851 t) ballasting from Marseilles to Hampton Roads. Has French 4.7 cm gun and 3 French gun crew on board. Crew dismissed. Papers recovered.
2:55 a.m. Steamer sinks 6 nm from land. English and French wireless warns against approaching Cape Palos. Moved away from the coast in order to be out of sight of land at dawn.
